What Specialist Support is provided?

RN FPS provide a continuum of support to a wide range of presenting issues and offer signposting, referral, and research to mitigate these. 

Some of their specialist support includes: 

Casework Support 

  • Short interventions tailored to the need of the individual/family unit. 
  • Support to overcome times of duress and crisis. 
  • Automatic offer of support to Serving Person categorised as Seriously Ill.  
  • Assistance to build upon own strengths and utilise resources available. Aiming to increase resilience by enabling families to manage future incidents unaided. 

 

Visiting Officer 

  • Dedicated Caseworker to support the Serving Person and/or NOK/EC following medical categorisation of Service Personnel who are deemed Very Seriously Ill or who have died.  
  • Provides a link between the family and the Chain of Command. 

 

Compassionate Investigations 

  • Assess the need to return loved ones from their duties to their home in times of family crisis.  
  • Timely and thorough assessments to support Command decision making process, around compassionate action requirements.

Deployment Support 

  • Deployed Caseworkers providing face to face support across the globe. 
  • Dedicated deployment team, providing casework support to frontline units. 
  • Deployment information briefs and  
  • Community & Engagement Events. 
  • RN Forum providing updates from frontline units.  

 

Safeguarding – Assess, Analyse & Support 

  • Work in collaboration with Local Authority departments and MOD stakeholders in effective management of risk. This includes being the RN lead for the Serious Case - Advice Reaction Team (SCART).
  • Conduct assessments, recognising risk and acting in accordance with safeguarding processes.  
  • Work with individuals and families to identify positive changes needed and implementation of support to reduce risk.  
  • Link in with MoD Boards to inform and influence policy development.  

 

RN Forum 

  • Provision of a one stop shop to relevant information with essential updates to service and policies 
  • Calendar of all events and activities, including webinars and online briefs, to allow families to have a picture of what there is available to tap into. 
  • Safe areas for family and friends to see Unit updates and gain peer-to-peer support.
