I am empathetic and can hyperfocus on areas when I need to and I have great visual perception and I am good at conceptualising complex ideas.
However, my biggest areas of weakness are my working memory and processing speed. This means that I can be forgetful about things like names and I have to work hard to remember new or unrelated information. I also sometimes struggle to express myself in writing.
The RN Infinite has been a great way to meet people who also think differently. This mentoring and support have helped me to develop more coping strategies.
The RN have also funded an updated diagnosis for dyslexia from an Educational Psychologist. This meant that I was able to claim Disabled Student Allowance for my academic studies. Through the Royal Navy I have undertaken PGCE in Compulsory Education and Training, a PGDp in Training Management and Human Resource Development and a PGC in Higher Academic Practice.”
