The UK Veterans Family Study is a UK-wide study of the mental health and wellbeing of veteran family members. Little is known about the families of veterans and how they might be impacted by military service. The information collected in this study will help us to understand veteran families better, explore how experiences might affect each family member, and improve support available to veteran families in the UK.
The survey contains questions on mental health, wellbeing, how easy or difficult it was to find support, and family dynamics. It is online, takes up to 1 hour to complete, and all data remains untraceable and confidential. This study is being conducted by King’s College London, Queen’s University Belfast, and several other partners including Glasgow Caledonian University, Anglia Ruskin University, Cardiff University and Veterans NHS Wales and funded by the Forces in Mind Trust and the Big Lottery Fund.
We are looking for participants 18 years old or over currently live in Scotland, Northern Ireland, England, or Wales who are:
• Are either a spouse/intimate partner, or now adult (18+ years) child of a Veteran who has served at least one day in any branch of the UK Armed Forces/Reserves, but no longer serves in the regular service OR
• Are a Veteran who has served at least one day in any branch of the UK Armed Forces/Reserves and have since left regular service.
