UK Veterans Family Study

Are you the current or former spouse/intimate partner or adult child (now 18+) of a military veteran (who has served in the UK Armed Forces (as either a Regular or Reserve) but no longer serves in either) living in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

If so the UK Veterans Study would like to hear from you.

The UK Veterans Family Study is a UK-wide exploration of the mental health and wellbeing of veteran family members. We hope that the information collected in this study will help to improve support available to veteran families in the UK as the research has the potential to inform policy, programme and initiative creation, and future research for years to come. This study is being conducted by King’s College London, Queen’s University Belfast, and several other partners including Glasgow Caledonian University, Anglia Ruskin University, Cardiff University and Veterans NHS Wales. The study is funded by the Forces in Mind Trust and the Big Lottery Fund.

The UKVFS survey launched in November 2021 and walks through the specific experiences of spouses/partners, adult children, and the veteran themselves, to provide a unique look on how the experiences of the family might effect each member differently. The survey contains questions on mental health, how easy or difficult it was to find support, and family dynamics. It is available online, takes up to 1 hour to complete, and all data remains untraceable and confidential.
