The LGBT Veterans Independent Review has been set up to examine the impact of the 1967 to 2000 ban on homosexuality in the UK Armed forces. The Review will seek to better understand the experiences of LGBT individuals who served in the Armed Forces from 1967 to 2000 and will provide recommendations to Government on how to address this historic hurt.
The review is looking at three main areas:
● The impact the ban had on LGBT or perceived to be LGBT veterans
● Accessibility of veterans’ services for LGBT individuals
● How to ensure that LGBT veterans are recognised and fully accepted as members of the UK Armed Forces
Call for Evidence is open - visit gov.uk/lgbt-veterans-review to find out how you can submit your testimony.
Any individual can participate in the call for evidence providing they served some time from 1967 to 2000, or if they are a family member of an impacted individual.
