Homecomings

If your Serving Person is away for a period of time on Operational Deployment the Unit they are with will probably organise a Homecoming Event for families and friends.

Due to the nature of security around Operational Deployment you may find information is not provided in full until they are very close the the actual date.

Some information and booking to attend will be given to your Serving Person who can discuss this with you in a safe way to ensure you are registered to attend.

Once more details can be released either within the Units RN Forum group or direct to you this will inform you of what time you should arrive, if there are any specific parking areas, where to go to access the event and what security you will need to enter should it be held within a Unit/Establishment. ID is normally a passport or driving licence.

When deciding who is going to attend, you may find there is a limit per Service Person due to capacity of Homecoming location.

It is also worth noting that some timings of Homecomings can change due to flight changes, tidal concerns, delays or operational changes, however this is only in exceptional circumstances and most do go ahead as planned.

Quite often refreshments will be supplied, activities, such as banner making and games may be provided and you may also be fortunate to see The Band of the Royal Marines in attendance which is a brilliant spectacle!

Do make sure you check the weather and come wearing suitable clothing and footwear as for some Homecomings the wait to see your Serving Person can be a long time and you may not be undercover.

Finally, do not forget to bring the tissues!
