World Vegan Month Volunteering

The Defence Vegan and Vegetarian Network spent a day at Coppershell Animal Sanctuary helping prepare them for winter with their rescued animals.

Stingers were removed, an emu house created, mats cleaned, scaffolding built and cleaning undertaken.

We were then able to meet the rehomed animals who hadn’t already curiously watched our work. This includes pigs, alpacas, cows, horses, emus, goats, ducks, hens and cockerels. All are available for adoption to the right home, to make space for more rescue animals!

Civil Servants were able to use one of their volunteer days to take part and it was great to have a mix of military and civil service.

A meal at the Burj at the Harp and Crown was entirely vegan and very enjoyable.

We felt connected and motivated from this event. We hope we can organise more volunteering at animal sanctuaries around the UK (and possibly abroad!)

Thank you to Chris for organising and if you would like to organise something please contact the Events team via People-MOD-VegNetwork (MULTIUSER) [email protected]
