Welcome to the RNBT newsletter for Spring 2026

As many of you will know, Call the Hands is the daily broadcast that signals the start of the day across ships and naval bases a call to action, a moment to focus, and a reminder that everyone has a role to play. The past couple of months at The RNBT have certainly reflected that sense of purpose. Across the Trust, our teams and volunteers have continued to provide vital support to members of the Royal Navy community, responding with compassion, professionalism, and dedication.

A particular highlight has been the continued progress of our Meaningful Care Matters journey across our Care Homes. This programme is about far more than accreditation it is about culture, relationships and ensuring that every resident is seen, heard and valued as an individual. At Admiral Jellicoe House (AJH), the team has embraced this work with real energy and commitment as they prepare for Butterfly accreditation in April. The changes being embedded from enhancing resident engagement to creating more person-centred environments reflect our determination to provide care that truly honours the lives and service of those who call our Homes their home. Alongside this, our regional Help Hubs continue to strengthen our ability to deliver support locally, ensuring that members of the Royal Navy family can access the right help, at the right time, in the right place.

Looking ahead, with the success of our Silver Armed Forces Covenant status last year, we are working toward a future Gold application, further embedding the Covenant’s principles into our culture, employment practices, and service delivery. This reflects the hard work of colleagues across all services in the Trust and our ongoing commitment to the Armed Forces community. For any organisations or businesses starting their journey with the Armed Forces Covenant and the Employer Recognition Scheme, or if you’re working on going from Bronze to Silver, please get in touch and we would be happy to share our experience and support your progress.

On a final note, with the emerging situation in the Middle East, we recognise that this may be an unsettling time for members of our Naval and wider Armed Forces community. Alongside this, many continue to feel the impact through rising living costs in day-to-day life. The RNBT remains available to support our beneficiaries and their families, providing financial assistance and wellbeing support where it is needed most. As ever, if you, or somebody you know, could benefit from our support, please get in touch.

As always, none of this would be possible without the dedication of our staff, volunteers, trustees, and supporters. Thank you for standing with us and for being part of The RNBT’s journey. We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and the stories within it.

Warm regards,
Debbie Dollner
