Mark Harris receives Submarine Award for his outstanding support to RN FPS.

Mark Harris received the Submarine Award for his exceptional and continues support to Royal Navy Family & People Support (RN FPS) at the recent awards held in October 2025.

Throughout his time working within the Submarine Qualification (SMQ) team and previously as part of the RN STEM team -  Mark has provided the highest level of professional engagement with  and personal dedication to supporting submariners and their families.

Mark has devoted countless hours of his own time to delivering initiatives that bring families closer to understanding life beneath the waves.  One of is standout contributions is the online ‘Virtual Walk Through’ which is a digital experience that allows families to explore a submarine environment and gain a real sense of connection with their sailors deployed at sea.  Known for his openness and compassion, Mark frequently shares his own experiences on board a submarine to support families who may be anxious about deployments – Did you know his poor daughter never received a pet rabbit because he couldn’t respond to her familygram asking for one!

Within his SMQ role, he has guided sailors to become submariners promoting companionship, resilience and active participation in community support activities. 

Mark’s award was well deserved recognition of his tireless commitment, professionalism and unwavering support to those wo serve and their families.
