The Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FAMCAS) Published Today 18th July 2024

Director People & Training and Naval Secretary RAdm Jude Terry, OBE

“I would like to thank the partners of our RN service personnel that participated in this year’s Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FAMCAS). Growing up in a military family and now serving myself, I understand the challenges faced by both those serving, and their committed loved ones who support them. It is important to complete these surveys in order for us to gain a better understanding of your needs, and to drive the change needed to address areas of concern.

Your feedback and views are critical, and do make a difference. In last year’s report, you told us that families did not feel they were getting enough support when separated from their loved one. So, The Navy Family People Support Community are now providing more online activities and events to support families at times of separation, increasing the amount, and accessibility of family welfare grant days out for families of deployed personnel. We are also deploying service personnel from the Welfare branch on HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH and PRINCE OF WALES to provide advice and guidance to the Divisional System and individuals, as well as working closely with the FPS Portal back in the UK when required. Last year’s feedback also showed us that 41% of RN Families do not use government childcare initiatives because they do not know they are eligible. To improve this, the wraparound childcare team have provided comms on digital platforms, including Discover My Benefits, highlighting the childcare benefits available.

This year’s report will allow us to continue to gather further insights as to how to improve your, and your families’, experience whilst serving. Thank you for your support.”
