Royal Navy Society of Performing Arts News

A year of change for Royal Navy Theatre. With 2026 comes an exciting new chapter with the founding of the Royal Navy Society of Performing Arts. Proudly tracing it roots back to an age when all establishments had an amateur dramatics group, the RNSPA seeks to embody the inclusiveness and accessibility to all, offered by the arts.

The society has its home on Whale Island and works collaboratively with theatre groups around the Southeast to provide opportunities for acting, directing, producing, dance and song to all service personnel, civil servants and civilian contractors as well as their family and friends. The annual calendar ends with the much-enjoyed Christmas Pantomime, a firm favourite for members and guests alike!

The RNSPA is a recognised representative organisation, with Patronage from Director People and Training. There is something for everyone, with a well-stocked events calendar to assist in scratching the creative itch.
