Royal Navy Family & People Support (RN FPS) and other Clyde Stakeholders gathered in full force in the Resolution Bar for the first of many fun nights to help support the new submariners in training. A fun-filled event that surpassed expectations in both attendance and support, brought an enthusiastic audience together over great food and even better conversations.
Designed to encourage time away from Single Living Accommodation and to introduce Submariner Qualification Trainees (SMQ’s) to RN FPS and other supporting stakeholders within Clyde, the highlight of the night was everyone coming together and having a great time. Conversations were flowing, new friendships were formed, and the room was buzzing with excitement, especially when it came to Quiz and Bingo time!
Whilst finding out what was available to them Volunteer Co-ordinator, Kirsten Teggart, shared how they could also fill their spare time by becoming an RN FPS Volunteers in which many showed their interest.
WO1 Mark Harris said, “This was a brilliant opportunity to introduce the phase 2 trainees to the wider support network in Clyde. We hope to take this experience and build on it in the future with the aim of improving the ‘lived in experience’.”
With over 80 SMQ’s in attendance, Sophia McArdle, RN FPS Community Development Worker, said “I was overwhelmed by the numbers, the participation and interaction. The overall feedback was AWESOME! Christine Stewart, RN FPS Community Support Worker, and WO1 Mark Harris’s support was instrumental in making this happen.
Furthermore, I would very much like to thank all the stakeholders, RNRMC, Chaplaincy and the new SUBFLOT FLO, Tommo for their support on the evening, with special thanks to Shelley Gilmour, Drumfork Community Manager, for providing the food & drink.
It was so good; we are already planning the next one which will be held in May.”
