There’s still time to take part in the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FAMCAS) 2026.
- FAMCAS 2026 closes on 15 April 2026
- It is open to the spouses and civil partners of all Regular RN and RM personnel
- Spouses and civil partners can take part here: https://surveys.mod.uk/index.php/637526?lang=en (please enter your partner’s service number as the access code)
What is FAMCAS?
FAMCAS is an annual Tri-Service survey which gives the spouses and civil partners of RN and RM personnel the opportunity to share anonymously their views on and experiences of Service family life.
Why is FAMCAS 2026 important?
FAMCAS is the only consistent and systematic method by which the views of RN/RM families are captured. The results provide senior leaders in the RN and Defence with the hard evidence they need to change existing policies and initiatives or develop new ones.
Last year, the RN/RM response rate to FAMCAS (11%) was lower than the Army (23%) and RAF (17%) response rates. We need more RN/RM families to take part in 2026 to ensure future Defence policies and initiatives reflect the needs of RN/RM families.
Director People & Training and Naval Secretary, Rear Admiral Andrew Rose says:
“As a husband, a father, and someone who has lived the realities of Service life for many years, I know just how much our families give so that we can do the jobs we’re committed to, to keep the nation safe. Their resilience, their support, and the sacrifices they make, often quietly behind the scenes, are what allow us to serve with focus and purpose.
That’s why the Families Continuous Attitude Survey (FAMCAS) matters so much to me. It isn’t just another piece of bureaucracy; it’s one of the most important ways we hear the honest experiences of the families who stand beside us. The information collected shapes real policies and real improvements not only within the Royal Navy, but across all three Services. When more families take part, we get a clearer picture of what’s working and where we must do better.
If your family has been invited to complete FAMCAS this year, I would ask that you pass the invitation on and encourage them to take part. Their voice is heard and genuinely makes a difference. Every response strengthens our ability to push for the changes that matter to ensure that Service life supports not just our people, but the families who support them.
Thank you for taking the time and thank you for everything you and your families do to keep us moving forward.”

Who can take part in FAMCAS?
FAMCAS 2026 is open to the spouses and civil partners of all Regular RN and RM personnel, located in the UK or overseas.
If you are married or in a civil partnership, and your JPA record reflected this at the start of November 2025, your spouse/civil partner should be able to complete FAMCAS this year.
You or your partner can check whether they can take part in the survey with this online tool.
How do you take part in FAMCAS?
If you are a Service person and have received an email about FAMCAS 2026, please forward it to your partner. Alternatively, you can send your partner this link: https://surveys.mod.uk/index.php/637526?lang=en.
If you are the spouse/civil partner of a Service person, please click on the link above. When you are asked for an access code, please enter your partner's service number (case sensitive). This is simply a security precaution – the access code is not linked to your response, and it is impossible to link responses to Service personnel. All responses are completely anonymous.
Part of a dual-serving couple?
If you are part of a dual-serving couple, we want to hear from you. Please click on the survey link above and enter your partner’s service number as the access code, rather than your own.
FAMCAS 2026 closes on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
If you or your partner have any questions, please contact the Navy Research Psychology Team at [email protected].
Thank you for helping us to improve the lives of RN/RM families.
