Submarines, frigates, destroyers and aircraft are the more prominent members of the 'ring of steel' around HMS Queen Elizabeth on the Carrier Strike Group deployment.
 
Often unsighted are teams of Royal Marines from 42 Commando who provide the task group with the ability to intercept drugs smugglers, pirates and terrorists, but also to rescue downed pilots behind enemy lines.
