Are you planning on using Wraparound Childcare from autumn term 2022? Have you applied for a TFC account?
To be eligible to claim Wraparound Childcare (WAC) payments, a Tax-Free Childcare (TFC) account must be in place for each child that you want to claim WAC funding for. The childcare provider must also be signed up to the TFC scheme. Full eligibility criteria for the TFC accounts can be found at Tax-Free Childcare - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). Service Personnel will be able to claim up to 80% (within capped rates) of WAC costs back through JPA with the remaining 20% being paid directly into the TFC account from HMRC. Claims cannot be submitted prior to the TFC being activated and the Service parent has registered for WAC. TFC accounts can be opened by either the Serving or non-Serving parent. Families planning to register for WAC from autumn 2023 can apply for their TFC accounts now. This will avoid delays in claiming when the WAC registration is open for autumn term 2023.
Please note, until your child has turned 4 years old and started school full-time, they remain ineligible for the WAC scheme. If you are planning to register your 4-year-old child(ren) in readiness for autumn term 2023, please look out for further information detailing when this option is available. You cannot currently pre-register your 4-year-old child(ren).
Who is it for?
- Regular or FTRS (FC) Service personnel Serving in the UK or overseas unaccompanied
- Service parents with children aged 4 to 11 years old who live at home and attend school or are home schooled in the UK
- Service parents with children attending before and after school care during term time.
