The British Science Association has selected activities and challenges from its CREST Awards that can be used at home with parental support. The activities for 5-11 year olds are organised into 5-7 years and 7-11 years age groups.

Smallpeice Trust has a range of Engineering@Home learn through exploration activities with a new challenge added every Wednesday. Detailed, illustrated instructions indicates the age range that each challenge is suitable for (from 5 to 16 years) and the materials that can be used – most of these are normally sent out for recycling.

The Tomorrow’s Engineers website provides a range of careers activities and resources to help young people to learn more about the wide range of careers in engineering and to find careers paths that match their interests.

The MySkillsMyLife website from WISE, which aims to increase the participation, contribution and success of women in STEM. This resource enables young people to complete a quiz to discover their personality type and see how their skills are matched to STEM careers and to explore different role models, jobs roles and companies. Primarily aimed at 11-19 year olds, this resource can also be used by 10-11 year olds. Using the resource requires an online account and young people under the age of 13 will need a parent, carer to teacher to create an account.

The BBC has launched Bitesize Daily programme on available via BBC iPlayer and on a TV via the Red Button. The 20 minute TV shows cover core subjects for 5-15 year olds including maths, geography, science (for 5-11 year olds) and separate physics, chemistry and biology (for 11-15 year olds).
