Aggie Westons – the Sailors’ Friend 

Dame Agnes Weston’s Royal Charity for the Naval Service—known as Aggie’s—provides pastoral and practical support to personnel serving in the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary (regular and reserves), their families and Children.

Aggie’s Pastoral Workers are based in Royal Navy establishments and Royal Marines units across the UK. We also have a dedicated Pastoral Worker at Whale Island who supports members of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

Whether you need someone to listen, a friendly chat, practical support or help finding specialist services, our Pastoral Workers are there for you. They work closely with the Naval Chaplaincy Service and can often be found in Chaplaincy Centres, NCS Havens and coffee bars, providing a welcoming and relaxed place to talk.

Our Community Waves teams in Portsmouth and Plymouth bring families together through a varied programme of activities in and around Service Family Accommodation areas. These include family events, walking and fitness groups, sewing and craft activities, coffee mornings and toddler groups. Details of forthcoming activities can be found on Aggie’s website and social media channels.

Aggie’s Storybook Waves is a free service that helps serving personnel stay connected with their children and loved ones during any period of separation—not only deployments. This could include training courses, non-operational separation, working away from home or long shift patterns.
The serving person records a story, which is professionally edited with music and sound effects to make it extra special. The finished recording is then sent to the family, together with a free gift pack containing a copy of the book, an additional Naval Children’s Charity book, an Aggie’s Mini Medal for each child, bookmarks and age-appropriate deployment journals.
