This months read, The Dicktionary Club, will be making its way to you, so please feel free to comment on this post.

Three friends fed up with the Glasgow scene decide to set up a women-only website for sisterly advice, but along with its unexpected popularity comes a slew of hilarious and messy consequences.

Ella, Katy, and Zola are done with Glasgow's dating scene. From ghosting to catfishing to cringe-worthy Tinder messages, navigating love in today's society has become an absolute nightmare! But when one of them is dumped by a guy who saw her as nothing more than a quick swipe, the trio decide to fight back and take matters into their own hands. Creating The Dicktionary Club - an exclusive, women-only website dedicated to exposing Scotland's worst serial swipers with brutally honest reviews.

Their mission is to help women spot the red flags, dodge heartbreakers, and take back control of the dating scene. But as the site goes viral, so does the drama in their own love lives. And when one of them starts falling for a guy she's been warning others to avoid, things get messier-and more complicated-than ever...

Our next meeting will be on Monday 16th March 2026 from 1930 till 2100.

Not able to attend later tonight as I've been held up in work so will leave my review here. Similar to others, this was bit meh for me. Having previously enjoyed Glasgow Kiss by the same author I thought I would have enjoyed this more. Similar to others, was close to not finishing. I think this would have been fine as easy read for holiday but it fell a bit flat for me. 2/10, sink from me.

I was looking forward to a light-hearted read that would give me a chuckle but, instead, it was a little cringe....and sometimes a bit uncomfortable. Absolutely not the type of book I'd usually read - I tried my best to get into it but I just couldn't take the characters or storyline even remotely seriously and didn't want to finish it. For this reason, I didn't feel that I would have anything any use to add to the discussion so please accept my apologies for not signing in this week. It was a duck for me I'm afraid. I hope next month's book has a bit more substance. Is there a list of decided titles anywhere? I recall filling in a poll asking if I wanted to be involved in the selection process...or just the voting process...but I haven't seen any further information about it. Thanks

I couldn’t make book club last night I’m afraid but here’s my thoughts.

Like the majority, I went into reading this book thinking it would be a light hearted comedy - an easy read and have a giggle. Instead, the characters were not very likeable and came across a bit mean. The idea of the Dicktionary was great but I don’t think it was put into practice very well.

    3/10 and Sink for me!

    Can’t win them all Blush

Some of us read two books from the same genre this month, 2 completely different ways of writing and you can tell by the anchor scores which came out as follows:

The Dicktionary Club - 2.74 Anchor and it resoundingly SANK with 39 sinking it, 6 sending it for a float and 5 taking it for a swim - please correct me if I am wrong but this maybe the lowest score we have had for for a book?

Phantasma - 8 Anchors and complete opposite it went for a very strong SWIM with only one person sending it for a float.

I wasn't aware of this title? I just had the Dicktionary Club one (which was a resounding sink). Is this a new book for this month? I did ask a question in one of these threads about the book selections and whether a shortlist has been decided yet? (I completed the poll saying I didn't want to be involved in selecting but would like to vote on choices...but haven't heard any more about that??) Have there been any updates? Thanks

Hi Michelle, those who attended the Book Club meeting in February were given the option to have 2 books to read from the same Genre which were reviewed at this months meeting.

After spending the best part of two weeks recovering from a horrendous bug that totally wiped me I have today finished the Dickionary Club.

I'm not sure how it was classed as EF, I'm not quite sure what genre I would fit it in as I really didn't enjoy it.

I started the book with high hopes, and the story had the potential to be relatable and good, but the characters quickly annoyed me and the story line really didn't intrigue me. I felt the language was unnecessarily and I would say detracted from the storyline, but I really failed to enjoy that either. The story seemed to focus on the same negative behaviours that it highlighted from men, a bit of a pot kettle situation. So sorry but it was a sink from me.

Phantasma - I was 3/4 of the way through the book when I got poorly and was really enjoying it - Its less of an easy read so I will pick it back up once I am fully recovered and able to concentrate again! But the fact I am enjoying it and want to pick the book back up to get to the ending makes it a winner in my eyes!

So. I was dreading reading this after the comments at Bookclub...but I actually quite enjoyed it! I agree some of the writing is crude and it's misandrist - if blokes wrote like that about women there would be hell to pay!! On the other hand, I quite liked the story and the 3 main female characters. I suppose I might class it as a bit of a holiday read.
