National Film Club - June 2024

The National Film Club is a project for service communities across the United Kingdom and overseas. We meet on MS Teams once a month to share our thoughts and views on the films chosen for each month.

Members can request free Odeon Cinema tickets to watch the Cinema film before attending the meeting. (We do ask that all people requesting tickets do also attend the Film Club meetings.)

If you do not have an Odeon located close to where you live or are not able to get to the cinema then put your feet up, relax and watch the "At Home" film.

The choice of films to watch in June are:

Cinema: ‘Kingdom of the Planet Apes’ As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, a young ape goes on a journey that will lead him to question everything he has been taught and make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.

At Home: ‘Down With Love’ (2003) It’s 1962 and feminist Barbara Novak writes a best selling book that details the drawbacks of love. She encourages women to seek independence and workplace achievements, not serious relationships with men. Writer Catcher Block decides to expose Barbara as a fraud by making her fall in love with him, but his plan has serious consequences.

OR

‘ Kingsman: Secret Service (2014) Anti-social and unemployed, Eggsy Unwin faces several challenges when he gets recruited as a secret agent in a secret spy organisation in order to look for Richmond Valentine, an eco-terrorist.
