The NHS Career Opportunities for Service Leavers and Veterans Booklet has been produced in partnership with NHS Employers - ‘Step into Health’ programme. It provides information on the career opportunities and skills required in NHS England (also applicable to other parts of the NHS), the skills and experience sought, how to apply and find out more/get support. The NHS is the UK’s largest employer and offers over 350 career roles across the community, from health centres, to ambulance trusts and hospitals. Not all of these roles require prior healthcare training or experience and many Defence people and their families have skills and experience that are not only transferrable to the NHS but are extremely sought after. In the last 5 years around 1,200 Service Leavers and Veterans have moved into careers in the NHS, over half of these were in non-medical roles during their time in Defence. The Booklet is available on gov.uk here

Group: Leave Well

Follow the Leave Well group to access resources, tips and signposting to specific support to aid service persons and families with the transition back to civilian life and beyond.
