This may be free or it may require a payment equivalent to that which a local resident would pay. The UK GHIC has replaced the existing European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). If you have an existing EHIC you can continue to use it until the expiry date on the card. Once it expires, you'll need to apply for a UK GHIC to replace it. Due to the nature of security around Operational Deployment you may find information is not provided in full until they are very close the the actual date. Some information and booking to attend will be given to your Serving Person who can discuss this with you in a safe way to ensure you are registered to attend. Once more details can be released either within the Units RN Forum group or direct to you this will inform you of what time you should arrive, if there are any specific parking areas, where to go to access the event and what security you will need to enter should it be held within a Unit/Establishment. ID is normally a passport or driving licence. When deciding who is going to attend, you may find there is a limit per Service Person due to capacity of Homecoming location. It is also worth noting that some timings of Homecomings can change due to flight changes, tidal concerns, delays or operational changes, however this is only in exceptional circumstances and most do go ahead as planned. Quite often refreshments will be supplied, activities, such as banner making and games may be provided and you may also be fortunate to see The Band of the Royal Marines in attendance which is a brilliant spectacle! Do make sure you check the weather and come wearing suitable clothing and footwear as for some Homecomings the wait to see your Serving Person can be a long time and you may not be undercover. Finally, do not forget to bring the tissues! FIND OUT MORE If you are part of the Service Person's family or a close friend, register or log in and navigate to your specific Units group. The HM Forces Railcard costs £21 and it'll save you 1/3 on most rail fares throughout Great Britain for a whole year. That works out to under £2 a month for huge savings. There are plenty of ways you can use your Railcard, for both long and short trips. Better still you can use it anytime on weekends, Public Holidays and during the week. The only restriction is that if you travel before 10am Monday to Friday (except during July and August) a minimum fare will apply. For more details see minimum fares. Your HM Forces Railcard will save you 1/3 on many tickets. As with most things in life, there are some exceptions, so take a look at the ticket types you can and can't make savings on with your HM Forces Railcard. Please note that the railcard can only be used for non-duty (leisure) travel only. Commuting between home and place of duty, work or education is not available.
