Trained volunteers offer a listening ear and practical help to families facing difficult times, empowering them to navigate challenges and give their children the best start in life. Activities and support: One-to-one home visiting volunteer support This service is open to any family with a child under 18. Parents are matched to a volunteer, who visits them in the home for two hours per week, for up to a year. Volunteers provide a listening ear, encouragement, signposting and support. They work alongside a parent, enabling them to develop their confidence and skills and to find and create long-term sustainable networks. Volunteer do not provide childcare, cleaning or transport services. Support is managed and monitored by a paid co-ordinator. Parents on Board This Join our FREE weekly Stay & Play Group for service families in Plymouth An in-person weekly stay and play group in Plymouth for service families and their under 5's. This is an opportunity to meet up with other service families, have a coffee and a chat, with play opportunities for the children. Digital remote support from a volunteer For many families setting aside two hours for volunteer visit is too much. For others they may need to speak to someone more regularly than our traditional once a week visit, and some people just feel more comfortable chatting online. Whatever the reason, this method of support provides families with access to a volunteer. The volunteer will be available for up to an hour, a couple of times a week, at times that suit them both. Support, which will last for up to 12 months. Own My Life This is a nationally recognised 10-week programme to support women who have experienced domestic abuse. The course is based on the principle that women are the experts in their own lives and uses a trauma informed approach. The courses are delivered digitally. Reducing Parental Conflict – Courses for Parents - Within my Reach The programme helps people improve their relationships with the people who matter. It looks at how family background and hidden issues can impact negatively on our communication and focuses on understanding and addressing negative relationship patterns and improving communication. This course is for people in a relationship and is primarily delivered digitally via Zoom Find out more: Phone: 07307873163 Email: homestart.shpt@gmail.com Website: Home-Start South & West Devon

Blog Post: Aggies Pastoral Workers

Pastoral Workers are based ‘behind the wire’ supporting our serving personnel throughout their careers from basic training and into phase 2 training and beyond, providing social activities such as the infamous Bacon Butties! The NDN is able to help serving Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and their families with advice, signposting, forms/applications, assessments, matters around schools, respite breaks and sourcing what support families (adults and children) need. If you have a question or are feeling like you ‘don’t know what you don’t know,’ or find yourself reaching for Google, do get in contact with the NDN. The NDN keeps an eye out for upcoming events/activities that support neurodiversity and posts them on the RN Forum. In addition, the ND Navigator keeps in touch with a group we call ‘Neurodiversity Champions’, meeting periodically, to help shape future support and change, in an advisory role. This is open to any family living with neurodiversity so do get in touch if you want to be part of it.
