Our Military Staff include: Royal Navy Welfare is a branch of the Royal Navy where those at Leading Hand (LH) or Petty Officer (PO) can apply to transfer into RN FPS. Once selected, they go through the Defence Specialist Welfare Workers Course (DSWWC) with Army colleagues and following graduation, they are trained to provide specialist welfare services. Some will go on to qualify as a Social Worker. Digital Moderators are Military Personnel working as Full Time Reservists. They moderate and administer RN FPS Digital Platforms and official social media channels, working closely with all Naval Service Units encouraging engagement with families. Our Civil Servants include: Social Workers are qualified, registered Social Workers working as civilians alongside their Military colleagues bringing their specialised skills in Social Work into the Royal Navy ensuring Personnel and families have a wide range of support to assist in crisis intervention and safeguarding. Community Development Workers are fully trained in youth and play work and the provision of activities and events to support isolated communities and separation, especially at times of deployment. At times, they may also support their colleagues by carrying out play work with children and young people in crisis. Community Support Workers assist the Community Development Workers in their delivery and work alongside RN FPS registered volunteers to provide a wide range of activities within many main Naval Service Establishments. Information Officers provide up to date and relevant information, especially on relocation and deployment, working closely with their colleagues in Army and RAF HIVE in order to have a baseline level of information for all within the MOD Community. The team consists of the Head of Department, Casework Lead, Safeguarding Lead, Community Lead, Engagement &amp;amp; Communications Manager, Training and CPD Manager, DSSWC Course Manager, and Business Manager. They are responsible for the strategic delivery of the organisation, ensuring delivery is in line with government &amp;amp; MOD legislation and policy, implementing processes and instructions and assure compliance to these for a high standard of day-to-day service delivery. Implementation of training provides all staff with Continuous Professional Development enhancing services for the Royal Navy and their Families. Collaborating with Tri Service leads, RN FPS HQ ensures the RN is represented within wider Joint Service policies (JSP&amp;#39;s) relating to Safeguarding, Casualty Management, Welfare, Wellbeing, Community and Engagement. They can be contacted direct at: navypeople-psrnfpshq@mod.gov.uk The RN FPS Portal , located in HMNB Portsmouth, is the entry point for all new requests for specialist welfare support, regardless of geographical location. The team consists of the Team Manager, Casework Managers, Specialist Welfare Workers, Social Workers, and Business Support. They are responsible for providing specialist crisis intervention support through timely assessments, interventions, and support planning. The team can work directly with the individual/family concerned or offer advice and guidance to Command. They will explore the situation presented which may involve requesting permission to liaise with other professionals involved such as Medical, Education, Local Authority departments etc. Once this has been completed a Support Plan will be put in place which may involve advice &amp;amp; guidance on the subject, signposting to relevant support agencies or formalised compassionate action. If long term support is required, this will be transferred to one of the Service Delivery Teams. This Deployed Asset Team consist of Military Senior Rates who are responsible for providing specialist welfare provision onboard deployed units and in areas of operations across the globe. They work closely with colleagues across RN FPS to support the planning and implementation of deployed support helping to deliver this in a timely and consistent approach to ensure maximum reach. They can be contacted direct at: navypeople-psrnfpsdeploy@mod.gov.uk RN FPS has two Service Delivery Teams who are responsible for the delivery of specialist welfare across the UK and Overseas that has been assessed as complex, requiring multi-disciplinary working where face to face support is vital. They are also responsible for the delivery of Visiting Officer support who are allocated if someone is very seriously ill or has passed away. With staff spread across at 21 locations across the UK and Overseas, the teams consist of a Service Delivery Manager, Team Manager, Casework Managers, Specialist Welfare Workers, Social Workers, and Business Support. Once a case has been transferred from the Portal, an in-depth assessment of the individual&amp;#39;s needs will take place. This includes liaison with professionals and internal/external organisations to ensure robust and evidence-based decision making and support planning. A Support Plan, utilising the information collected, will assist any decision making around the Service Persons employment and may suggest they require a Compassionate Assignments. With all individuals, the team will encourage resilience, empowering individuals with the resources and information to independently manage life situations whilst continuing to maintain their commitment to the RN. Acknowledging the uniqueness of service life, the team are responsible for creating an accessible community to enable shared experiences and support. The Community &amp;amp; Engagement team consists of Community Development Workers, Community Support Workers, Information Officers, Digital Moderators, and registered volunteers. Community &amp;amp; Engagement has two principal areas of delivery with the objective to keep families informed, involved and in touch to support resilience. Community offers a full range of activities and events, both face to face and online, for families to attend. Two specific areas for delivery are youth work and deployment support. Engagement is achieved via the RN Forum, the RN’s official communication channel between units and their families; this includes the push of up to date and relevant information on various topics. The team are pinnacle to deployment support and work closely with the Deployed Assets Team to ensure all Units are identified and supported.
