Part of Royal Navy Royal Marines Charity Strengthening Families Programme 18 th June 2026 7.30 - 9.00 pm Free Online (Via Zoom) Does your child struggle to attend school, experience overwhelming anxiety around school or regularly find the school day emotionally exhausting? You are not alone. For many neurodivergent children, school avoidance is not about defiance, laziness or a lack of motivation. Often, it is a sign that a child is experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, unmet needs or an environment which feels overwhelming or unsafe. As parents, it can be incredibly difficult to know how best to support your child while also navigating expectations from school. Volunteers travelled from far and wide to join in this activity, allowing Kier and RN FPS to collaborate on revamping the well utilised community garden. Although a very wet morning, this did not stop the work, especially as Aggies supported with refreshments and bacon butties! Coordinated by Milly Winstanley, who also sourced coordinated resources and funding for the event, all the attendees ensured the garden was cleared, tidied and new plants planted allowing the space to be welcoming and attractive. Further enhancement has seen an additional sensory area added to the fencing brightening up the space. Thanks to funding by Kier, the garden now has a new adventure play activity course, encouraging all visitors to have fun outdoors. We will look forward to seeing how the garden grows over the next few weeks and how the community use the space. RN FPS would like to send a huge thank you to all involved for giving us the time, laughs and amazing end results, not forgetting the donations of plants from Rocket Gardens Ltd and bug houses and sensory equipment, but most importantly time.

Blog Post: Activity Day for RN FPS Young Leaders

BF Adventures in Cornwall provided an activity day for our young leaders and young people as a thank you to all the support they provide to RN FPS. “On Friday 29tth May BF Adventures in Cornwall provided an activity day for our young leaders and young people. The focus for the group was to have fun, thank the young leaders for everything they do to support RN FPS in the groups, build on communication, problem solving and listening skills, try new activities which they may not have experienced before. The day was funded through a grant from Lest we Forget. The participants were able to enjoy the accessible zip line, loose a shoe and scream, taking it in turns to complete three attempts each. After lunch there was water sports with paddle boarding, kayaking, and canoeing. Although the day started a little cloudy, the weather improved with the afternoon ending in water fun making a perfect end to the day. All the young people and staff at BF Adventures were great fun. The young people, supported by Fliss and Cathy, observed the activities, shared lunch, and chatted about all sorts of subject matter. BF Adventures staff were professional, engaging, and supportive, adapting teaching techniques to suit all participants. More photos of the activity day can be found via the Gallery, see link below: Activity Day for RN FPS Young Leaders - Gallery

File: Activity Day for RN FPS Young Leaders - 29 May 2026
