Adults Lego Serious Play Recap from June's Session

Another great evening of building, talking Lego and sharing homework was had by all who attended this month.

We did some great builds which included: what we did at the weekend, to build a logo and to build something with wheels

Adults Lego Serious Play Homework for May

I'm not sure if I am on the right tracks with the homework that we were given at May's Lego Serious Play session, but I am going to be brave a post a photo of what I have done, I think I may have cropped the picture badly to show forced perspective... you tell me ???

As I believe we can now post photos in the reply feature, I would love to see what others have done before our next session on Monday evening.

Book Club Discussion for The Girl With The Louding Voice by Abi Daré

The books will be on their way to all members of the Book Club this week, and this month's book is chosen by the group from the Cultural genre: The Girl With the Louding Voice by Abi Daré:

Jaws movie

Hi all … after the movie club discussion last night, I looked for Jaws at the cinema. Sadly, it’s not showing near us.

If anyone did want to watch it, though, it’s on Amazon Prime, currently, to rent for £3.49 or £5.99 to buy.

I’ve searched all the platforms and this is the only place I can find it, other than Sky Cinema (which we don’t have).

Adults Lego Serious Play Recap from our May Session

We had a great evening at our Lego Serious Play session this month, showing off our homework from March's session (we had to miss April due to the Easter weekend falling when it did), and catching up on what builds we have done since we last met, there were quite a few!

Our homework from March's session was to build a face and there were some amazing creations, one person even googled what else they could build with the bricks from from bunny we built in our last session, the results were astounding and we were all suitably impressed with their creation. Here are the homework builds, see if you can guess which one was built with the bricks from the bunny:

Our first build challenge for the evening was the make something that flies, here were the creations:

Our next build was to do something you might see in the garden:

We had a snail, fox, raised beds, flowers, a filled wheelbarrow and a garden scene.

Our last build for the evening was to build something you would find in the sea:

We had corals, submarines, shipwrecks and a lighthouse.

All our builds this month were timed so added to the challenge!

National Online Easter Lego Parties

Thank you for joining Sarah and Clare for some Easter Lego building fun on Sunday 29th March.

We all had an amazing time building from the World Builder Create a World of Play Lego book and building our icebreaker build of a bunny pulling a cart with easter eggs and some of us had a minifigure to build instead - we had frogs, cats, koalas, Dalmatians, crocodiles, monkeys and parrots!

We built a City Car, a Jungle Car, a Spacecraft, a Submarine and there were some awesome free builds with a few taking on the challenge of using all 150 pieces that came with the set.

If you haven't already read it, I highly HIGHLY recommend All the Colours of the Dark.

Online rumours are that it's also in the early stages of being made into a cinematic tv series - this could be amazing if the casting is good!

National Online Children’s Easter Arts & Crafts Parties

Thank you for joining Sarah and Clare for some Easter Arts & Crafts fun on Sunday 22 March.

We had a great time painting decorative clay eggs, bunny sun catchers, making clay bunnies and ultimately making Easter bonnets while listening to a story, The Scarecrows Wedding.

Everyone made some eggstrordinary creations and here are some of the pictures we have received so far:

Book Club - The Wedding People by Alison Espach

This month's book is The Wedding People by Alison Espach:

A propulsive and uncommonly wise novel about one unexpected wedding guest and the surprising people who help her start anew.

It's a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, when Phoebe Stone arrives at the grand Cornwall Inn wearing a green dress and gold heels, not a bag in sight, alone. She's immediately mistaken by everyone in the lobby for one of the wedding people, but she's actually the only guest at the Cornwall who isn't here for the big event. Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

For those of us who attended February's book club meeting we were given the option of another book too ... Phantasma by Kaylie Smith:

I confess I haven't finished it yet, but oh my I am enjoying this one so much more than I did The Dicktionary Club!

This one is such a lovely read, incorporating fantasy, romance, seduction to name a few, with demons, ghosts, phantoms this is right up my street. The erotica aspect comes across in a subtle manner with innuendo, I am sure it might get saucier the further into the book I get, and to be honest with you ... I'm looking forward to it if it does I will be surprised if it doesn't with Blackwell's character!!!

Even though I haven't finished it yet, I would highly recommend this book and I will be interested to hear others opinions on this one to ...

Film Club ︎

I had a quiet bit of time to myself yesterday afternoon and the chance to watch Official Secrets.
I thought it was a really good and interesting film to watch, very fitting with the current situation.

I don’t want to give anything away as it was only picked a couple of days ago but I definitely recommend. It’s not too long either.

Lego Serious Play - March "Easter Bunny" Session

We had a great time at last nights Lego Serious Play session, following instructions to build an Easter Bunny along with a flower and of course his/her carrot!! Some of us had not done this before and those who hadn't, really enjoyed it. Here are the pictures of the bunnies, yes they are all the same but somehow they all look different in the way that they have been captured on camera by their builders.

Our homework was set too after this wonderful build and that is to create a face out of Lego, the inspiration came from how cute the bunnies face is and how it was build to give us all some inspiration, looking forward to seeing them all next time

Book recommendation

Just before I read the RN Book Club February choice (The Lamplighter's Bookshop) I read my workplace Book Club offering - I Hope This Finds You Well by Natalie Sue (her debut novel!) It's a funny and heart-warming office comedy, an admin worker accidentally gains access to her colleagues’ private emails and DMs and decides to use this intel to save her job. As far as Jolene is concerned, her interactions with her colleagues should start and end with her official duties as an admin for Supershops, Inc. Unfortunately, her irritating, incompetent co-workers don’t seem to understand the importance of boundaries. Her secret to survival? She vents her grievances in petty email postscripts, then changes the text colour to white so no one can see. That is, until one of her secret messages is exposed. Her punishment: sensitivity training (led by the suspiciously friendly HR guy, Cliff) and rigorous email restrictions. When an IT mix-up grants her access to her entire department’s private emails and DMs, Jolene knows she should report it, but who could resist reading what their co-workers are really saying? And when she discovers layoffs are coming, she realizes this might just be the key to saving her job. The plan is simple: gain her boss’s favour, convince HR she’s Supershops material and beat out the competition. I really enjoyed this story with well developed characters and their own individual stories coming to light as the book progressed. The writing is descriptive, funny and certainly makes you stop and think, 'What would I do?' It's a good reminder that while you think you know your colleagues, you probably don't actually know what's going on in their private lives and that a smile or an offer to make a cup of coffee will go a long way in making someone's day. I know I pleaded with our RN Book Club "no more debut novels" recommendations, but I'm pre-ordering this author's second novel as I enjoyed the style of writing and story telling in her first novel. Lego Serious Play - What We Got Up To At February's Session!

February's Lego Serious Play Session was enjoyed by all, and there were some great builds done and some amazing homework pieces incorporating our mini figure selves telling a story ... you are all FAB U LOUS

We got 3 builds into the session: a Valentine's themed build, a Shrove Tuesday build, and it was one of the members birthdays and they asked everyone to build them a birthday cake ... thank you :-) if I could have eaten them I would have they all looked good enough to eat :-)

Lego Serious Play - Recap for January 2026

Our first session of 2026 didn't disappoint, there were some awesome creations ... this group is A MAZE ING.

Tasked with building something Sci-Fi, we were all blown away by each others builds and then we were tasked with building something with wheels, again imaginations and creations were second to none

Some had also completed the homework from December's session to create a scene.
